The past few weeks at Parsley Frog have involved becoming closely acquainted with the historical drinking habits of a beautiful Shropshire town. The volunteers of the Bishops Castle Heritage Resource Centre commissioned a website to support their fascinating project. They have painstakingly researched every historical bar, pub, and alehouse, producing a comprehensive database of ‘The Lost Pubs of Bishop’s Castle‘.

This site was great fun to create. Starting from images of historic maps, which were uploaded and digitally adjusted to lie accurately over Open Street Map data, we then added the data for each historic pub, and created pages  for each pub. Following the in-house style as requested, we built a zoomable slippy historic map driven website to help visitors and locals explore all the fascinating buildings in this beautiful town. We’re looking forward to visiting each pub in the flesh. For…research purposes. Ahem.
